For those of you that have decided to learn German as your second language, I would like to say congratulations. This is a fairly easy language to learn and I am sure you will enjoy it. When you learn German, you will see just how much fun it is. Many individuals choose to go to a German speaking country in order to learn German and that is a good way to do it. However, not everyone out there is able to go to a German speaking country.

Many of us only have access to programs and tutors that will teach us. When learning this new language, a lot of the software will start us out with simple German vowels to learn.

When it comes to pronouncing the vowels, it can be a bit difficult at first. Pronouncing the umlauts are especially difficult. Unlike in the English language, the individual vowel sounds in German will not be changing. In our opinion, we believe it is easier to learn this language than it is to learn English.

A vowel is a sound that stands alone and is made without putting a halt in vocalization. What exactly does this mean? This means that a vowel is something that is pronounced without having to interrupt and get a breath of air. All of the other letters that aren’t vowels are called consonants.

Consonants are produced by putting a stop to the air flow at least once. In order to learn how to pronounce the vowels in German, you will definitely need to have practice.

The five pure vowels are a, e, I, o and u. The three umlauts are a, o, u (each one of those should have two dots above the letter). Each vowel will have a long and a short form, it depends on the consonant that follows. Next, follow the links below to read more about learning the German language.
